The Blaine County Fair is coming up on August 5-10 at the Blaine County Fairgrounds in Carey.
A centerpiece of the Fair is the market animal sale, where all animals are raised, shown, and sold by kids from the local 4-H. Potential buyers must arrive at the sale by 8:30 on Saturday, August 10th, or preregister. Bidding for these animals can be a heated affair. Purchasers can decide to keep the animal, return it to the child who raised it, or send it to the butcher.
The Fair recognizes every grower and producer in our community through the Open Exhibition, a friendly contest for the best in various categories. Blue ribbons are awarded in categories ranging from decorated cakes to handmade quilts and flower arrangements to the ugliest vegetable. There is a category for everyone! Everything except flowers can be submitted at the Blaine County Extension Office on Monday, August 5th, from 5:30-6:30 pm or Tuesday, August 6th, from 1:00 – 8:00 pm at the Eldredge Building at the Carey Fairgrounds. Open Class judging takes place Wednesday, August 7th, from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm. Fair attendees can see the winners by touring the exhibition hall after the judging is complete!
Don’t miss the live music at the rodeo grounds on Wednesday, August 7th, at 7:00 pm with Elliemae and Heath Owens. This year, the Fair also includes three days of rodeo, with a special kids rodeo on Friday at 7:00 pm.

See you all at the Fair!
